It seems that many people have the misconception that very young children and infants do not need passports. This is simply not true, and this misinformation could result in a child being denied travel at an airport. This type of misinformation often results in parents scrambling to get their child a passport at the last minute. Luckily, the U.S. State Departments provides channels to secure an expedited childrens passport.
Just because they are a child, does not mean that there are not travel laws that pertain to them. Any family that is getting ready to travel aboard would do well to get on the Internet and do some research on passport rules and regulations. For the record, anyone traveling abroad needs to have a passport.
While there is one set of rules as they pertain to adults and there are specialty laws that pertain to children. One of the concerns of authorities is that a parent will unknowingly flee the country with a child. This is why both parents must sign a consent in order for the child to be able to get their passport. Doing this gives a little more reassurance that both parents know about the travel, even if the child is only traveling with one parent.
This means that when a passport for a child is in the process of being obtained, there is actually an extra step that is required in the process. This is important to know because the process is already a bit time consuming. Adding this extra obstacle means that more time should be allotted for the overall process.
The child must have his or her photo taken prior to applying in person at an application center. One-hour photo stores in pharmacies or supermarkets are often then best and least expensive places to obtain passport photos. When pressed for time, these one-hour photo stores are by far the best place to get express passport photos because they can crop the photos to the requisite specifications immediately on site.
Before the application can be submitted, the dual consent form has to be properly filled out and signed by both parents. If the parents are divorced or living in separate cities, this can sometimes cause a problem, especially if expedited service is needed. This is actually the cause at times for the expedited service as it takes both parents so long to get the forms signed.
The U.S. Department of State currently estimates that a normal passport application will take four to six weeks to process. Any child that needs a passport in less than six weeks should most definitely apply for an expedited passport. The State Department estimates that an expedited passport will arrive in two to three weeks.
When traveling abroad, it is best to have all the ducks in a row so that there are no issues at the last second. However, it is perfectly understandable to see how a child’s passport could slip the mind of the parents that they would need to get an expedited child us passport. When this happens, know that there are several measures in place to make the express USA passport process as easy as it can be with the added pressure of a short turnaround time.

With technology always improving, and older homes diminishing, home security has come to the forefront of debate. Old homes have windows that are glass, screens which no longer exist, and locking mechanisms anyone can loosen. Exterior doors may have only one lock. Or old fashioned latches in the place of locks. These homes, though worth preserving, are not up to date with Wisconsin home security monitoring.
Security at home can simply be improved in various ways. Old locks can be replaced easily. Deadbolts added to exterior doors, or an additional metal security door may ward off potential threats. These monstrous doors are available in various sizes, shapes, and colors. To avoid this hideously modern look, consider salvaging a door made of stronger material from an architectural salvage yard, goodwill, or an antique store.
Modern windows are a simple solution to improving home security. Older homes probably have single windows with aluminium or wood frames. Places like Wisconsin, where extreme weather is the norm, have a greater need to replace old windows. New windows stop heat from leaving the home, and excess cold entering, increase security, and improve energy efficiency. Most window companies carry a line of windows designed to copy the look of older homes, but have the conveniences of modern living.
National providers of home security systems offer easy solutions. These systems often make loud noises scaring off potential intruders. In addition, these home security systems most likely have direct connections to staffed monitoring stations and to local emergency personnel. These systems are usually simple, with small keypads.
If your neighborhood has a neighborhood watch, join! If not, start a branch yourself. Bringing your neighborhood together with a common goal of protection improves the security of every home involved. Post signs near every home, posting signs in public areas with permission. Tell your local police station once the group is formed, or when you become a member. Be vigilant, but be safe first. Always call the police to report unusual activities and for emergencies.
Most often people forget the simplest answers when looking at home security. Always make sure to lock all your doors before you leave the house. Even when at home, and especially before you go to sleep, check the locks! Homes with yards should ensure there is an adequate lock on the gate or fence. Metal security gates are one solution. Check the garage door. If it opens outward, without folding or retracting, add locks to the side frames. This will make it far more difficult to access the home through the garage. If the garage is attached to the home, always double check the locks connecting the garage and the home. And to paraphrase Motel 6, leave some light on. Motion censored flood lights are simply installed and can be purchased at most home improvement stores.
In addition to the increased security of the home, there are other benefits for these simple improvements. Utility companies may offer rebates or discounts to residences that replace old windows with energy efficient vinyl or fiberglass windows. By removing the option of breaking a glass window, there is less chance someone can enter through a window. Home insurance companies might also give discounts or reduce premiums for installing a home security system.
Improving home security cameras saves money in more ways than expected. These improvements will also create better Wisconsin home security alarm system overall. Information is power. Pass on these simple solutions to your neighbors, family, and friends and see them feel safer in their homes.
